Abstract
World Bank Discussion Paper No. 293. The World Bank's policies in rural financing have shifted from traditional agricultural credit projects to building viable financial institutions that operate within the purview of the rural financial market. This shift created the need to design and implement realistic rural finance projects consistent with the Bank's policies. This study analyzes all the Bank's rural finance projects in progress to find best practices in project design. The report identifies design issues and bases its conclusions on them
