The reduction of poverty is one of the biggest concerns of the members of the
United Nations. The poverty is a thematic much debated and without immediate solutions.
The causes of this phenomenon are in a complicated web of local situations combined with
national and international circumstances. Angola having lived almost three decades of civil
war, is confroted with several problems of social nature, in particular poverty inequality,
and social exclusion.
This research has as object of study the analysis of the problem concerning of
poverty in Angola as a case study and the city of Namibe; being this one of the locations
with the highest index of poverty at the national level, we identified and proposed measures
to reduce the current problems related to poverty, hunger and food insecurity in relation to
programs currently deployed by the Angolan State.
