The paper presents results of a quantitative research study with transversal cohort, which aimed to
determine the knowledge about the nature of HIV AIDS and ways of transmission in students
Electronic Engineering program at a public university district of Santa Marta, where a total sample
of 186 students, aged between 19 and 32 years was used. The results helped identify participants
have adequate knowledge on HIV AIDS, but in turn, lack of knowledge about the ways of
transmission was evident. It is recommended to disclose information that enables students to
acquire knowledge about the nature of the disease.
