Abstract
This report provides an overview of the critical nutrition issues and problems in Eastern Europe and Central Asian (ECA) countries. The ECA Region is large in terms of the number of countries it covers and diverse in terms of its economic, political and social structures. As expected, nutrition problems are also diverse in the region, from countries where undernutrition in children is highly prevalent to countries where overweight and obesity are significant public health problems. Paradoxically, in some countries both overweight and obesity exist simultaneously with undernutrition in children.
