Abstract
This research paper examines the effects of birth order on child health outcomes in
Bangladesh and Pakistan. Though previous studies have looked at birth order effects on
education and future earnings, very few have looked at the relationship between birth order and
health. This paper uses multivariate OLS regression to examine how the relationship between
birth order and health outcomes is confounded by the gender of the child.
