Abstract
Air pollution in urban areas is a major health concern. Air pollution in cities has been linked to increased rates of mortality and morbidity in developed and developing countries. There is consistent evidence that the levels of fine particulate matter in the air are associated with risk of death from all causes of cardiovascular and respiratory illness. The present study predicts the health impact due to PM10 (respirable particulate matter) in an industrial, residential and commercial area of Mumbai city. The estimates of the impacts on health is mainly based on Ostro's approach.
