This is the first STEPS conducted by Uruguay.
STEPS is a household-based survey to obtain core data on the established risk factors that determine the major burden of NCDs.

Scope
The following topics were included in the survey: tobacco use, alcohol consumption, diet, physical activity, history of raised blood glucose, history of raised blood pressure and history of raised total cholesterol. Additionally, the following measures were taken: blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol and urinary creatinine.

The overall response rate was 100% for Step 1, 45.8% for Step 2 and 33.7% for Step 3.
