    Abstract

The UNHCR Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) is a household-level survey conducted with people directly or indirectly assisted by UNHCR. In Papua New Guinea, West Papuan refugees as well naturalized and non-naturalized West Papuans households were surveyed in two major locations, these being Iowara in Western Province and Port Moresby in the National Capital District. The Survey was undertaken jointly with the Immigration and Citizenship Authority from the Papua New Guinean the government, the objective of the survey was to assess indicators on education, healthcare, livelihoods, protection concerns, shelter, and water and sanitation and further evaluate food insecurity in Iowara.

The RMS can be implemented in any operational context. A standard structured questionnaire has been developed for the RMS, which can be conducted as a stand-alone survey or flexibly integrated with other data collection exercises. Questions from the RMS standard survey were adapted to the context and incorporated into a government survey and an FAO survey for the capital and Western Province, respectively. The data collection focused on topics such as safety, access to identity documents, and income and employment. The data includes indicators collected at both the household and individual (household-member) level. The survey covered 325 household containing 1894 individuals.
