<br />In this section, the sociodemographic information of the members of the household in the selected home is obtained. The type of information collected varies based on the different age groups and sex of the people subject to the study, as shown on the following chart:</p>

<br />This question is asked to members of the household aged 12 years or older to learn their marital status.</p>

<p>Marital status. Status of people aged 12 years or older in relation to rights, legal and customary obligations with respect to the union with another person.</p>

<p>Instructions:</p>
<div class="i1">- How to ask the question. Read the question naturally to all people aged 12 years or older, regardless of from your perspective they are too young to have established a conjugal relationship. Do not delve into the legality of the union or separation, write the informant's response.<br />- Verification of data. If the information indicates that any of the members lives in a common-law union or is married, but the spouse was not reported in the relationship of people, verify the situation with the informant.</div><p>- Definition of each concept. Keep the following definitions in mind to adequately obtain the information:</p>

<p>1. Do you live with your partner in common-law union?
<br />In this option classify:
<br />People who live as a couple without legalizing or formalizing their union civilly or religiously.
<br />2. Are you separated?
<br />Married people who no longer live with their partner, but have not divorced.
<br />Those who lived in common-law union, but currently do not live with the other person, nor have they remarried or united.
<br />3. Are you divorced?
<br />Those who separated from their partner through the legal route and currently do not live with another partner, and have not entered into a new marriage.
<br />4. Are you widowed?
<br /> People whose partner has died and they have not married again nor do they live in a common-law union with another person.
<br />5. Are you married?
<br /> Those who are bound to another person though a legal and/or religious process.
<br />6. Are you single?
<br />People who have never been legally or religiously married nor have they lived in a common-law union.</p>

<p>Sequence to follow. If it is the first interview, go to the section called "Informant" to record the respective information; if it is the second to fifth, and you recorded permanent absences or new members, go to the respective section.
