<p>In this section we wish to know how many persons have left the country to live abroad since the last Census.</p>

<p>[Questions 62-64 were asked of the households that had members who left to live abroad during the last ten years, per question 61]</p>

<span class="h3">Section 15 - International migration</span></p>

<p>International migration refers to the movements by individuals over national boundaries. Migration is an important element in the growth and decline of the population and the labour force. A knowledge of the number and the characteristics of the persons entering and leaving the country is required to analyze the changes in the structure of the population and the composition of the labour force of Trinidad and Tobago.</p>

<p>This section will compile information on the number of persons leaving the household to live abroad, by age group and sex. It will also collect information on the countries to which persons migrated, as well as, the number of persons returning to live here permanently.</p>

<p><span class="em">Question 62 - Give the number of persons by age and sex at the time of leaving.</span></p>

<p>You are required to write in the number of persons by sex and age-group who have left the household to reside abroad.

This variable indicates the number of women age 20 to 24 years (at the time of leaving) who left the household to live abroad permanently since 1990.
