Description

Definition
This variable indicates the nature of the entrance into the dwelling. The census divided living quarters into two types: 1) Those with "direct access" could be entered directly from the outside of the structure, or through a common hallway, lobby, or other entryway that was not part of any household's living quarters (like most apartments). 2) Those with "indirect access" could only be entered by passing through some part of another household's living quarters.
Universe
United States 1980: Vacant and privated dwellings [discrepancies: none]
