Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis. FAO conducted the third round of data collection through Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) between 5 December 2023 and 24 January 2024. A total of 4781 households were interviewed, with 213 households per department.

Scope
The survey collected information on:
- HOUSEHOLD: household information
- INCOME SOURCES, SHOCKS: income changes, shocks experienced by households
- CROP PRODUCTION: crops planted, area planted, area harvested, crop production difficulties
- CROP MARKETING: crop sale difficulties, crop sale price
- LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION: types of livestock present on holding, number of livestock, livestock production difficulties
- LIVESTOCK MARKETING: livestock sale, livestock sale difficulties, livestock sale price
- FISHERIES PRODUCTION: fish activity, comparison of fish production
- FISHERIES MARKETING: fish sale, fish sale difficulties, fish sale price
- FOOD SECURITY AND CONSUMPTION: food consumption, food utilization, comping strategies
- NEEDS ASSISTANCE: open questions on the needs for assistance

Sampling
The survey reached 4686 households, which included households that participated in the first two rounds and additional randomly generated numbers which served to complete the target of 213 interviews per department.
Surveys are designed based on country-specific needs, objectives, and constraints. The sample design ensures a 10 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level at the target administrative level, and aims to achieve these precision levels for key variables within the targeted populations, including agricultural households.
Data were weighted by demographics (based on the total population per stratum) and a wealth proxy (access to sanitary toilets) at administrative level 1.

Data were collected in all 22 departments of the country and occurred after the second planting season. The data were collected in the form of computer-assisted telephone interviews.
Data processing
The datasets have been edited and processed for analysis by the Data in Emergencies Hub (DIEM) team at the Office of Emergencies and Resilience, FAO, with some dashboards and visualizations produced. For more information, see https://data-in-emergencies.fao.org/pages/countries.
STATISTICAL DISCLOSURE CONTROL (SDC)
The dataset was anonymized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Data in Emergencies (DIEM) Hub and reviewed by the Statistics Division, using Statistical Disclosure methods in accordance with FAO Corporate Statistical Disclosure Control Protocol. | The users shall not take any action with the purpose of identifying any individual entity (i.e. person, household, enterprise, etc.) in the micro dataset(s). If such a disclosure is made inadvertently, no use will be made of the information, and it will be reported immediately to FAO. |
Micro datasets disseminated by FAO shall only be allowed for research and statistical purposes.
