Interviewer instructions
Economic factors are a major determinant of mogration both short and long term for individuals and for households. The objective of migration questions is not to provide accurate measures of migration flows but rather indicators related to the impact of economic conditions. A one year reference period is used becasue it is a short enough period to ensure a reasonably accurate response.
The second part of the section (q 3-6) refers to short term migration by individual members of the household for specifically job related reasons. In question 3, "been away" means the person waas separated from the main household. If none has been away move directly to the next section.
