Definition
GEO1_BF1985 identifies the household's department within Burkina Faso in 1985. Departments were the first level administrative units of the country in 1985 (currently regions). A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_BF1996 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.
