Questions and instructions

Literal question
H20. Household durables?
Interviewer instructions
If the household does not have any of the above, do not mark the boxes.

We are collecting information about the number of durable goods or items that are in working condition. A vehicle with an engine that cannot be started because it needs spare parts or is beyond repair is not in working order and therefore should not be included. Record carefully the number of goods reported by the head of the households in the corresponding box.

Motor vehicles refer to cars and vans normally available for use by members of the household. The term “normally available” refers to motor vehicles that are either owned by occupants or are under some other more or less permanent agreement, such as a lease, and those provided by an employer if available for use by the household, but exclude vans used solely for carrying goods.

If the assets or durables are in the household but are community owned, e.g. pick up truck, it should not be included as it doesn't belong to the household.

Computer includes any kind of computer - laptop, desktop etc.

Mower includes grass cutter.
