Question 9 -- explanations: Total years of schooling</span><br /><br />[Instructions refer to a graphic of the census form including question 9.]<br /><div class="i1">A. Write the total number of years, including all kinds of school the person attended.<br />For example: if a person studied in elementary school abroad for 8 years, then studied high school in Israel and then studied in university for 2 years, the total years studied is 14.<br /><br />B. For persons studying at the time of the census, count the current year as well -- do not count the current year when stopped studying this year.<br />For example: a person who studied 8 years in elementary school and is about to complete his/her third year of study in a vocational school will write 11 years.<br /><br />C. The following should not be included in the total of years studied:</div><br /><br /><span class="pg">[p. 23]</span><br /><br /><div class="i2">Additional year of study in the same grade (for persons who repeated a year of school).<br /><br />Unfinished year of study in the past.<br /><br />Years of study in programs not regarded as school (see explanations for question 8).</div><br /></svar>
