Question 9 -- explanations: (For the born abroad) year of immigration to Israel</span><br /><br />[Instructions refer to a graphic of the census form including question 9.]<br /><br />A. When a person does not remember the year of his/her immigration to Israel, but remembers how many years he/she is in Israel, use the table for converting number of years into date.<br /><br />B. For a person who immigrated to Israel more than once and stayed abroad for less than ten years, write the year in which first immigrated.<br />For a person absent from Israel more than ten years, write the latter year of immigration (do not take into consideration visits in Israel, only the year of immigration).<br /><br /><span class="pg">[p. 18]</span><br /><br />C. For a person who stayed in Israel as a "temporary resident" or tourist, left the country and then came back as an "immigrant" -- write the year in which came as an immigrant.<br /><br />D. For a person who arrived in Israel as a "temporary resident" or tourist and after a while received the status of immigrant, write the year in which received "immigrant" status as the year of immigration.<br /><br />E. A "potential new-immigrant" will be considered "immigrant" for the purpose of this question, meaning: the year in which arrived as a "potential new-immigrant" or the year in which turned from tourist/temporary resident into potential new-immigrant will be registered as year of immigration.<br /><br />F. For a person who stayed in a detention camp in Cyprus and arrived in Israel after independence, write the year of arrival as year of immigration.<br /><br />G. For tourists and temporary residents, staying in the country for more than a year, write the year of entrance into Israel as year of immigration.<br /><br />Notice!<br />For the born abroad the questionnaire ends in this question -- move on to next person.<br /></svar>
