Definition

This variable indicates the amount of the household's monthly contract rent payment or, for vacant units (1970-1990), the amount for which landlord expected to rent the unit. This amount includes utilities, fuels, etc. only if they were included in the rent contract.

Only renter-occupied or vacant-to-rent units that paid cash rent; not in one-family houses on 10+ acres
