    1 - The CAPMAS carried out the first LFS in november 1957 and since that tme the LFS is conducted on a yearly or quarterly basis.

    2 - In 2006 significant methodological changes were introduced as following:

    a- Changes in the sampling methodology to allow for a better follow-up of the dynamic changes within the labour market
    b- The questionnaire is improved to allow for a better and more precise identification of the status in employment (employed, unemployed, out of the labour force,etc.) and also to improve the logic and the organisation of the different sections in the questionnaire.

    3 - Starting from 2008, the data collection methods has been improved to be more representative and conducted at intervals sufficiently frequent for the management purpose:
    Governorates sample are divided into five sub-samples and each one is conducted in a half-monthly basis

    Abstract

    1- The selection of households is based on the 2004/2005 PSU "primary sample units" as an update of the 1996 population census.
    2- A separated quesionnaire is dedicated for each household
    3- Alternative households were not applied due to the updated PSU
    4- To reduce costs and efforts the survey is conducted in the border governorates: 2 governorates each quarter "all border governorates will be studied 2 times/year instead of 4 times
    5- Starting from 2008, the data collection methods has been improved to be more representative and conducted at intervals sufficiently frequent for the management purpose:
    Governorates sample are divided into five sub-samples and each one is conducted in a half-monthly basis
