Definition
For women who gave birth in the last 5 years and who received antenatal care during their most recent pregnancy, ANCML1_01 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported receiving care at a public "national hospital." This response category is country-specific to Mali.

Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ANCML1_01 is combined with ANCML2_01 (Public regional hospital) in ANCPUBHOS_01 (all public hospitals) for the 2012 Mali sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCML1_01 are encouraged to review ANCPUBHOS_01 for a more comprehensive response category.
