Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRNE1 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a public national hospital for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Niger.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FEVTRNE1 is combined with FEVTRNE2 (public regional hospital) and FEVTRNE3 (public district hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2012 Niger sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRNE1 are encouraged to review FEVTRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
