Description

Definition
GEO_RW1992 (V101_RW1992) indicates the region of Rwanda where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 1992 Rwanda survey are equivalent to groups of prefectures.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are also integrated variables, GEO_RW1992_2005 and GEO_RW2005_2014, that provide spatially consistent units over time. The Rwanda 1992 sample is excluded from GEO_RW2005_2014 due to inconsistent boundaries.

A GIS map for GEO_RW1992 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository [URL omitted from DDI.] Boundaries page.
