Definition
For women who agreed to have blood pressure measured, BPTSMOKE indicates whether the woman had smoked any tobacco product in the 30 minutes before the first blood pressure measurement.

Smoking can lead to temporarily raised blood pressure levels, although the levels typically return to the individual's normal level 20-30 minutes after smoking. In general, it is advised that individuals not smoke for 30 minutes prior to a blood pressure measurement.
