Definition
For adult male household members, HWMHEMOCONSENT (HB52) indicates whether permission was granted for blood to be drawn and tested for hemoglobin level (as an indicator of anemia) or, if not, why not. Interviewers read a statement about hemoglobin testing and requested permission to draw and test the individual's blood for hemoglobin level.
