Definition
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADZW1 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a public central hospital for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Zimbabwe.
Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
STIADZW1 is combined with STIADZW2 (public provincial hospital), STIADZW4 (public district hospital), and STIADZW5 (public rural hospital) in STIADPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2010 and 2015 Zimbabwe samples.
STIADZW1 is combined with STIADZW2 and STIADZW6 (public district/rural hospital) in STIADPUBHOS for the 2005 Zimbabwe sample.
STIADZW1 is combined with STIADZW2 and STIADZW4 for the 1999 Zimbabwe sample.
