Definition
For children born in the five years preceding the survey, DELGN1 indicates whether a nurse assisted with the child's delivery. This response category is country-specific to Guinea.

Some samples in the "DEL" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

DELGN1 is combined with DELGN2 (midwife) for the 1999, 2005, and 2012 Guinea samples to create the standard variable DELNURM. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DELGN1 are encouraged to review DELNURM for this more comprehensive response category.
