Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRBI8 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the child was reported to have received treatment from some other registered (confessional) medical sector facility. The meaning of "other" must be interpreted relative to the specific categories included in a particular sample. This response category is country-specific to Burundi.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

DIATRBI8 is combined with DIATRBI6 (registered hospital) and DIATRBI7 (registered health center) in DIATRPRIVMIS (all faith-based facilities) for the 2016 Burundi sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRBI8 are encouraged to review DIATRPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.
