Description

Definition
For children whose mothers received antenatal care, ANCTZ3 indicates whether they received care at a public "referral hospital." This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.

Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ANCTZ3 is combined with ANCTZ1 (public regional hospital) and ANCTZ2 (public district hospital) in ANCPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2004 and 2010 Tanzania samples.

Additionally, ANCTZ3 is combined with ANCTZ1, ANCTZ2, and ANCTZ4 (public regional referral hospital) in ANCPUBHOS for the 2015 Tanzania sample.

IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCTZ3 are encouraged to review ANCPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
