Definition
HEMOSELECT (V042) indicates whether the respondent's household was selected for hemoglobin measurements of the household members.

Hemoglobin is a protein in the red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the organs and tissues and transports carbon dioxide back to the lungs. Low hemoglobin levels indicate the presence of anemia (which may be caused by inadequate nutrition or chronic disease).
