Definition
For children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRNP4 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a private hospital for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Nepal.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
For the 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2016 Nepal samples, FEVTRNP4 is combined with FEVTRNP5 (private clinic) in FEVTRPRIVHOS (all private hospitals/clinics). IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRNP4 are encouraged to review FEVTRPRIVHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
