Sampling
A register of A1 farms is used as the sampling frame for the selection of a sample of A1 farms. The sampling frame is stratified by province and district. Farms are selected from each stratum with probability proportional to size (PPS), the measure of size being the number of plot-holders in the farm.
A complete listing of the plot-holders in the selected farms is carried out. The list of plot holders is used as the frame for the second-stage sampling, which is the selection of plot holders. The sample of plot-holders is selected by systematic random sampling.
Survey instrument
Four questionnaires (crop forecasting, capital formation, post-harvest, and transport and energy) were administered to collect the survey data.
