This question was applicable to household members who had been employed previously, but were currently unemployed or economically inactive. It is important that the service or main goods produced at the respondent's previous work are in English as the industry codes are in this language only. Although a person may have had certain roles and responsibilities within the company she/he was working for, the enumerator was instructed to record the main goods or services produced by the company. Questions 3.16.a and 3.16.b were write-in questions. The responses were used to determine the type of industry. The industry was coded to three digits on the basis of the Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (SIC)
