Abstract
This paper provides details of the Centre for Health Economics Uganda HIV Survey, a survey of People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), which was undertaken by a team of investigators from the Centre for Health Economics, Monash University. The survey sampled PLWHA from two antiretroviral therapy (ART) service providers namely, The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) Uganda Health Centres. The objective was to obtain information that would enable a comparison of individuals from households that have a PLWHA on ART and also receiving additional support, with individuals from households with a PLWHA on ART only, with a control group of individuals from households without known persons with HIV/AIDS. The survey collected comprehensive information on demographics, children and adult activities, presence of acute or chronic disease, ownership of assets, formal and informal transfers, loans, savings and anthropometric for children in order to allow analyses of household resource allocation decisions, like children’s education, children’s labour and adult labour force participation
