Abstract | The main goal of this dissertation is to evaluate the program JUNTOS' impact over the school attendance and child labor of children ranging from 6 to 14 years old. These two variables were selected for this research because we understand that these are the main variables affected by the JUNTOS Program. Moreover, they have a direct impact over child human capital and then over the reduction of future poverty. The main hypothesis derived from the human capital and conditional income transfer's theories were confirmed by our evaluation: (1) The JUNTOS program has a positive effect in the attendance school; (2) The JUNTOS program is effective in reducing child labor; (3) when the head of the household is an women, the family income is used in goods and services in favor of the child; (4) The JUNTOS program's effect is larger for children living in households with worst socioeconomic conditions (ex: low family income per capita, head of the household with few years of study, head of the household main language, etc.) Another important conclusion of the dissertation is that the JUNTOS program generate an intra family work supply reallocation. |
