Estimates of mean ages at marriage of females and males in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, India, are presented for the census year 1971. The patterns of variations in these ages are analyzed by district and administrative division. The relationship between age at marriage and level of development is also explored. A concluding section provides a classification of Uttar Pradesh districts by mean marriage age in relation to the revised legal minimum age at marriage.
