Abstract | SME is the abbreviation for Small and Medium Enterprises. These enterprises can be rightly called as the backbone of the GDP of India. the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play quite very significant role in the growth of the Indian economy, accounting for 45% of industrial output, 40% of exports, employing 69 million people, the contribution of these units to GDP may touch 22% in 2013. The major advantage of the sector is its employment potential at low capital cost or these three critical enablers are required. Firstly, better infrastructure, second is increased access to risk capital and third is creating a culture of innovation.” MSMEs are important for the national objectives of inclusive growth i.e. growth with equity and inclusion. This paper will detail growth and performance of SME’s in context of the Sports industry in India. In this work we have presented an overview of sports goods MSME‘s cluster in India. It covers the impact of economic factors such as Employment generation, GDP and export promotion on the growth and development of SMEs. We have mentioned the role of corporate sector in the promotion of sports MSMEs. The impact of MSMEs has been presented to show the growth trends over the last decade. |
