| Abstract | The paper attempts to quantify the impact of informality on women contribution in household budget. It further pinpoints the socio-economic factors that affect women struggle to meet their household needs. Using Egyptian Household Income, Expenditure and Consumption Survey 2010/2011, the analysis reveals that informality and urbanization increases women contribution to household budget by 13 and 3%, respectively. Moreover, poverty, large household, and husband employment status among other factors shapes the women involvement in household budget. |
