Abstract
India is a fast developing nation in the world but overall educational scenario among Indian population is not appreciable in recent time in general and Muslim population in particular. With the pace of time Muslim community was unable to get modern education and they were lagged behind with compare to majority of communities in India. Due to low level of basic education and lack of higher education (technical and professional education) levels of socio-economic development is to be low in Muslim community in India. As per primary data collected in the rural areas of Jalgaon District, literacy rate among Muslims was 71.15%. Among it 74.26% male and 67.76% female were literate. In rural areas of Jalgaon district also the scenario of education among Muslim is not good. Dropout rate after 7thStandard is much more in Muslim Female than Muslim Male. But after 10th standard overall dropout rate increases about 95%. Out of total rural literate Muslim population surveyed in Jalgaon District only 5.05% had graduation, post graduation and professional education.
