Abstract
The scoping study involved conducting of a desk study where national and regional literature on
Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) was reviewed. A question guide was developed (Appendix 1)
and used for interviewing key informants to determine their understanding of CSA, their CSA
related activities and key challenges to implementing CSA. A total of 30 key informants were
consulted, representing government officers from several ministries and departments (Ministry
of Agriculture, Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of
Natural Resources and Energy, Deputy Prime Ministers Office), parastatal organisations
(Swaziland National Trust Commission, Swaziland Environment Authority, Swaziland Water
and Agricultural Development Enterprise), Civil Society Organisations, public sector and
farmers organisations. The draft report was presented to stakeholders at a one day workshop for
validation.
