The purpose of this study was to investigate security in urban undefended areas sociologically, as crimeprone
areas in Baharestan Township, Tehran. It was conducted using descriptive-correlation method. Its population
included all habitants in Baharestan. This area was chosen because Baharestan is considered as an undefended area
in terms of standards of urban development. After analyzing a sample containing 340 persons, analyzing data using
Pearson correlation and multivariate regression with Inter method, the results showed a positive relationship
between informal supervision with social security in civil undefended areas. There is also a significant positive
relationship between formal supervision, collective consciousness, individual relationship with community,
membership in social groups and social security. There is a significant negative relationship between lack of control,
fear of rejection and social security in urban undefended. Variables of social ties, lack of control and fear of
rejection can predict 24% of criterion variable changes that social ties are more important. There was no significant
