Abstract
The development of creative competence, through artistic expression is being forgotten in recent times.
Moreover, new practices such as art therapy open the way from the field of psychotherapy to education to help fill these
gaps by providing tools and strategies for both teachers and students for the integral development of individuals,
promoting creativity and imagination, among others. This article discusses the importance of developing creative
competence, through artistic expression and art therapy practices that have found benefits both in lifelong education,
and clinical performance, helping to prevent or heal existing conditions, achieving improvement of individual and
collective welfare.
