Abstract
This study assessed e-Government adoption in Ekiti state government ministries, agencies and departments. It determined
the availability of e-Government resources and infrastructure, the stage of e-government implementation and the
challenges. Gartner’s four phase of e-Government model was used for analysis. Social survey design approach was
adopted. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire administered to the Director of IT and administration in the
29 ministries, agencies and departments. Collected data were structured into grouped frequency distributions. Findings
revealed that Ekiti state had made an entrance into e-Government. Resources and infrastructure for e-Governance were
available and the State was found to be at the second phase (interaction) of e-Government process and has not successfully
demonstrated its ability to progress towards the higher phases of e-government. Infrastructural constraints topped the list of
challenges militating against successful application of e-Government in Ekiti state. The study recommended that the state
should have a policy for bandwidth optimization and an effective legal framework that could create an environment
conducive for promoting and executing e-government.
