The study assessed farmer perception of women extension agents participation in technology transfer,
ascertained farmers recommendation on the participation of women extension agents, and identified
constraints associated with women extension agents participation in technology transfer. Simple random
and purposive sampling techniques were adopted in selecting 120 contact farmers in the study area. A
set of structured questionnaire was used to obtain the primary data which was analyzed using
percentages and Chi-square. Result showed that women extension agents were useful in technology
transfer process. Based on the perception, farmers recommended that both male and female extension
agents should be used in equal proportion in technology transfer process. Few constraints are found to
be associated with women extension agents participation in technology transfer and these includes;
lateness to duty (63%), disruption of programme when pregnant/on maternity leave (75.8%) and
unaccessibility (53.3%). The study recommends removal of sex disparity in the recruitment of extension
delivery agents.
