Urbanization is the most significant phenomenon of the 20th century which has affected all aspect of national life in India. The process of urbanization in India has been largely city oriented. The increasing concentration of population in cities has been the striking features of India’s urbanization during the last century (Bhagat, 2004). The rapid growth of urbanization in North East India has serious consequences on the economy of the region. The undue concentration of population in most of the towns in North Eastern States results in a number of problems for the inhabitants of the towns. |
