The construction industry constitutes a core area for the economy, as there are
many industrial and productive sectors associated with it, and it is one of the
activities that generates more working stations in the country; therefore, this
research analyses the employment and its development in time through a
socioeconomic analysis of its main aspects from 2007 to 2015, detailing the
generalities of the industry and its contribution to the GDP, and presenting the
economic debate and the main historic and social factors that influence
employment in Ecuador. Then, it analyses the factors and variables that
directly influence employment in the construction industry, and how have
these two affected its development. Lastly, by using the data obtained from the
Central Bank and the Construction Chamber, it is specified the importance of
these variables applying the multiple regression method. The findings lead to
the conclusion that main variables shown in this research explain the behavior
