Abstract | Unemployment remains a significant development challenge in the Philippines. This paper investigates the dynamics of transition from unemployment to employment of jobseekers in the Philippine labor market. Using an individual level panel data constructed from two nationally representative surveys, this paper examines how employment prospects of Filipino jobseekers are affected by their personal characteristics and by their unemployment income as well as by household composition, local labor market conditions, and unemployment duration. Influential factors to transition from unemployment to work were identified from the estimated duration and ordered logistic regression models. |
