+e project Misión para la Transformación del Campo, led by the National Planning Department
(DNP in Spanish) and the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, is a strong commitment
to change management in the Colombian countryside by means of the design of public
policies for reducing the gaps between rural and urban areas. +e %nal report of this study
was presented in December 2015 by the Board of the project, depicting an overview of the
situation of Colombian rurality and a number of strategies for designing action plans for its
intervention. +is article was based entirely on data and information contained in the reports
published by the DNP, which are available at its website, and is aimed at analyzing the most
relevant information of the document as well as presenting some important remarks for the
agricultural sector in Colombia.
