The paper aims at revealing characteristic features of the Belarusian society
socio-economic differentiation and identifying its specifics.
The empirical base of the study were the data presented in the official
statistical reports of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus,
the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation and the Central
Statistical Office of Poland.
The information concerning population income quintile group, quantitative
indicators of social inequality (quintile and decile ratios, the Gini coefficient), the
percentage of individuals who have incomes below the subsistence budget, the
differences in the level of income among representatives of different types of
economic activity in the Republic of Belarus in comparison with the Russian
Federation and Poland is analyzed.
