This article tries to question some aspects of the concept of poverty and family underlying this
particular type of social policies. The central thesis of this work is that when thinking about poverty, its
structural conditions are forgotten and turned into a series of compact attributes ontologically charged to
those human beings who suffer it. In this case, poverty is thought from an antropological view instead of
being analyzed structurally. The concept of family becomes quite heteronormative; the place left for women is
the tradicional role of looking after children and dependant people, and household management.
