This project attempts to describe the situation of impoverished persons in Uruguay using data
from the Encuesta Continua de Hogares 2014 (Continual Housing Survey). The goal is to define and organize
a set of basic necessities into groupings of principal factors which will be used to create an empirical
typology of poverty. Theoretically, the purpose of this study is to gain insight about the co-variation of
hardships and the differences and similarities displayed within this population—in other words, what we
talk about when we discuss poverty in Uruguay.
